.....this is what Mike wrote in an email about his experience...
I had a super experience today that I just have to tell you
about. It's a long story, but I was invited to play Cypress Point and
Pebble Beach today—36 holes of once-in-a-lifetime golf from 7:15 a.m. to
6:15 p.. . . . and better yet, it was free because I certainly could
afford what these places charge. The par-3 #16 at Cypress is one of the
most photographed holes in the world . . . it played 220 yards today
with 200 carry across the bay. I'm a hacker, as you know, so I gave it
everything I had with a driver and got the ball to the apron. My friend,
Stuart McDowell, smacked a 4-wood through the green. Our two playing
partners rinsed their balls in the Pacific.
Anyway, Stuart and I had to celebrate by saying we got there in 1!
(That's the hole behind us.) If you want to share this with some of the
guys, fine, but I thought I'd share the good news . . .
