Arrowood Golf Club
We had a wonderful day of golf at the
new Arrowood Golf Club in
Oceanside. Those of us that woke of early for our early morning start
sure found the beauty and challenge of Arrowood. The course was in
great shape, the greens were true and smooth and the weather stayed
cool. We welcome back to our group Ross Mitchell...it was good
to see you make a showing.
Congratulations to Curtis Chan
for putting into use his version of “course management” and posting a
low gross score of 82. His reason for success, in his post round
interview, was that he put the driver away and made good use of his 3
iron off the tee. He says that “confidence off the tee” is the key to
staying out of trouble with this particular course layout. Curtis also
takes home low net honors with a score of 69, sneaking by Bob Newby
who scored a low net 70 for second place.
The leader board is now again stirred
up, with Curtis Chan taking the lead away from Tom Robinson,
who now has slipped to 3rd place. Bob Newby slipped
into 2nd place and only edges out Tom Robinson by only 5
points. As you can see, our points leader board for our group is going
to be a shoot out to the end. We still have 4 more events to go for the
year.
In this year’s
playing format, points will be given for both low gross and low net
categories. Points will be earned according how each player finishes in
the field and also how you placed as a team if a team competition was
played. Only ties between first place finishers will be decided by
going to the score cards. Individual net play stroke will be given to
players with an official verifiable golf index. A course handicap may
be assigned to a player who does not have an official handicap by our
club’s handicap chairperson for team net play purposes. If you have any
questions about our golf group or you desire to get an official SCGA
golf membership contact Curtis Chan or Bob Newby.
Next month we will
be playing on Friday, September 16, 2005.
