Encinitas Ranch Golf Club
We
had split fields of players (am / pm group) with a nice turn out for our
monthly event. Eleven
players woke up early and played before 7:00a and in the afternoon a
full field of 12 players came out to compete and challenge the course at
Encinitas Ranch. Several
new faces and players who we haven’t seen for a long time:
Welcome to Gary Earle,
Denny Sbarbaro, Bill Buchanan, Anil Bhalla, John Riggs, and to our
junior golfer Van Coykendall.
Also a big welcome back to Tony Spires who has been recovering
for several months and is now back on the links.
With the split fields, we had to gather up our pin competition
pins then reset them out for the afternoon group.
Those of you who played early in the morning should be thankful,
as the greens were mostly likely in better shape than the afternoon.
The afternoon group had to endure all kinds of obstacles on the
greens as the tournament players in the mid morning play did not pay
attention to golf etiquette rules and pretty much abused the greens.
Overall, the time together with other players from our Seacoast
Golf Group proved to be enjoyable and fun.
The weather could have not been any better and several players
made their statements on the leaderboard.
Below are the results of our play.
Congratulations go to our low gross winner,
Gary Earle, who smoothly
managed his game to post a 76.
Low Net honors go to both
Geoff Baynes and Bret
Herman who also controlled their games to a low net scores of 64.
With his great play,
Geoff Baynes climbed his way into the playoffs by moving from 15th
place to 10th.
Also Bret Herman racked up
big points in every category and added enough points to take over 1st
place spot on the leaderboard from
Curtis Chan.
The
Seacoast Cup 2009-
Our golfing season began in January and goes all though December.
For the past 8 months players
have been participating in our monthly events and adding points to their
standings. This month we
are now taking the top 12 players with the most points (12 seeded
players) and will next month square off in match play events though the
end of the year to determine our club champion. The top 4 players
with the highest total points earned through the year will be exempt
from the first round of match play and will receive a buy round.
Seeded players 5-12 will be matched up on September 11 for the "Wild
Card" match rounds. The winners from the "Wild Card Matches" will
then be reseeded and matched up for the "Quarter-Finals" match play
rounds on September 25, 2009. Over the next following 2 months
winners will continue to play in Match Play format until a final
Champion is determined
Here
are the top 12 Seeded Players.
Congratulations to all those who have made it into the playoffs.
One of you will be crowned the
Seacoast Cup Champion 2009 For
those of you who didn’t make it into the top 12, please remember that
you’ll still be able to enjoy our monthly outings which will still be
open for regular play.
You’ll have to wait until next year to have your chance for the Seacoast
Cup.
