We had 22 players in our field today, the 8th event
of our Seacoast Cup Golf Season. The
Crossings at Carlsbad proved to be in "challenging mode" conditions.
The weather kept the clouds hovering over us for the majority of
the round, keeping the air cool.... but by the 15th hole the sun
finally made it’s warm presence. Many
players tried to jump off the "3 putt train" but it was hard to get off,
as the greens once again proved to be quite challenging.
There were a few players in our field who kept their composure
and managed their game to avoid the big scores.
Some players mentioned after their
round that they would have to return soon to figure out how they can
conquer this challenging course.
We had several
new faces who showed up as guests with some
of our regular players to help fill out our field.
Welcome: John
Ehara (guest of Curtis Chan) who is visiting from Tokyo, Japan /
Scott Lamming (guest of Dan
Anderson) visiting from San Clemente /
Dan White (guest of Scott
Tucker) from San Diego /
Steve Beaulieu (guest of
Mike Nelson) visiting from San Jose.
Congratulations to
Mike Civerolo who once again
displayed his golf talents by posting the low gross score 69 today (net
67). Mike explained after
his round that he put his driver in his bag most of the round and
depended on his 2 and 3 iron off the tee.
His ability in getting himself in scoring position kept him close
to par through the front nine, but then after making the turn Mike
placed his game in another gear and he went on a “birdie frenzy” and
scored 5 birdies! Other players
who had note worthy success today were both
Lee Fitzgerld (18th seed)
and Curtis Chan(14th seed).
Each of them managed their games to be able to post net 72 which
helped them gain the necessary points to escalate their playoff
standings into the top 12.
We had 10 Score Card Match Play matches.
Each player on team who wins will earn 50 points and 25 points
will be awarded to players who’s match ends in a tie.
Below are the scorecard and results of the matches.
Posting
Scores – many of you are posting your adjusted gross scores at the
course. As an added benefit to our
club, Seacoast Christian Golf Club, we all can also post scores from our own
computer the new SCGA/GHIN system.
Visit www.SCGA.org
or www.GHIN.com
and follow the links to posting scores.
Remember, to maintain your index current and to insure your index is a
reflection of your “true” golf ability,
post ALL your golf scores. If
you have any questions regarding posting please contact Curtis Chan or refer to
the SCGA website.

We now have our top 12 players who
will begin our playoff match play season next month to compete for the 2010
Seacoast Cup. Those of you who did not make it into the top 12 will
still be able to
compete and play in match play format
as our club has instituted a "B" bracket for those who still want to heat up
their competitive juices.
