Breakfast of Champions / President's Cup 2010

Thanks to Bob Newby who brought donuts and coffee, those of us who arrived early for our annual breakfast of champions warmed ourselves with Starbucks Blend coffee as the Arrowood chef prepared our breakfast burritos and croissants.

We honored and crowned our new champion - Kent Coykendall, and acknowledge our past champion, Bret Herman, who handed over the honored Seacoast Cup Trophy. 

After the devotional, Curtis Chan announced the teams for today's competition.

Team 4 Ball Competition

In the next phase of the competition, teams played in their foursomes “4 ball” were pairs of teams scored their best net score.  By the end of 18 holes, whichever team had the lowest score wins 1 point.

Pin Competition – all players were given a chance to take aim at the par 3 pins and to make their teams proud !

Team Herman Wins all available 2 points  in Longest Drive Competition

Total Points:

Summary – both teams squared off in individual matches but Team Herman took a 2 point lead over Team Coykendall after individual match play..  In the card off matches there were many heated battles that came out very close but in the end Team Herman added to their lead in their quest to reach the needed 10 ½ points to take the cup.  By the time Match 13 (4 man waltz format) was tallied Team Herman had achieved a 10 to 4 lead.  By then it w2as only academic as Team Herman proved to be far superior to Team Coykendall in the 2010 President’s Cup format as they achieved their 10 ½ points early on.  By the time all the matches were tallied, Team Herman decisively burnished Team Coykendall   16 ½ to 5 ½ .   The 17 Matches scored still proved to be a fun filled day as we celebrated our Champions in our Seacoast Christian Golf Club.

Our first event to earn points for 2011 Seacoast Cup will be on Friday, Jan 7, 2011.  Reply to Curtis Chan to get in on this event.  We will be playing at Encinitas Ranch GC.
