Lake San Marcos GC
Friday, February 5, 2010.
We had 23 players in our field today, the second event of our Seacoast Cup Golf Season. The course at Lake San Marcos CC was still recovering and drying out from the big rain storms from last week. The greens were lightning quick and most of us experienced a 3 putt or more several times over. Some of our lower index players were caught off guard to the difficulties that this course had to offer. Several players regretfully had to post double digit numbers on their scorecards as the strokes easily added up with today’s tough play. In the end, we all still had an enjoyable time, despite all the frustrations that golf can bring. Someone today reported they had a “5 putt.” The last group barely made it into the club house as a rain began to pour.

Congratulations to Denny Sbarbaro who played steady and posted the low gross score of 78 today. He proved today that membership has it’s privileges as he utilized his local knowledge and wisdom and skillfully navigated the course. Also, Denny took Low net honors in posting a 71. We had 6 teams also competeing in our Team Waltz competition and it came out to be very close one between Team 1 and Team 4. In the end, Team 4 edge out team 1 by one stroke to win the team competition. Team 4, consisiting of: Denny Sbarbaro, Jim Hopson, Wes Lindquist and Darren Maglidt will each earn 50 points for winning the Team Waltz completion. Below is the score card and results.

Next Event : Friday, March 5, 2010 Quest for the 2010 Seacoast Cup - This year will be been full of fun times on the golf course. We have added a new dimension to our club’s monthly event play by having Match Play events beginning September 2010. Twelve players will earn their way to this year’s match play event. Points are earned by finishing well in both individual low gross and low net score postings. Also points are earned in different team and individual events ranging from match play, 4 man team best ball, and 2 man best ball events. Net Skins are also another category that allows players to add points to their monthly points. View Match Play 2009 Remember only those players who have an Official SCGA or USGA golf index qualify for low net play and compete in Seacoast Christian Golf Club Points System. Players who participate in our events who do not have an official golf index / handicap, may be assigned a course handicap and may participate and qualify for team net play points . For information on how to obtain an official golf index contact Curtis Chan and visit : Membership and SCGALeaderboard - On our Leaderboard, Denny Sbarbaro has taken the lead for the top position, followed closely by Jim Hopson.. The season is early and there are many more events to come to start adding to your points total. |
