Our golf season started out with a beautiful cool day at the Rancho Bernardo Inn GC, but by 10 am, the sun broke through and warmed up the course. Many of us had to shake off the dust from our clubs and strived to find a new year’s swing…while others proved that their swing is already grooved for the year. Many new faces showed up for our first event that consisted of 22 players. Our golf season will consist of monthly events touring mainly the JC Courses in the North County. Points will be won by players in the following categories.

Low Gross Scoring
Low Net Scoring
Net Skins
Team Net Scoring
Best Front / Best Back 9 holes
Closets to Pin / Longest Drive

Points each month will be tallied and recoded and posted on our club’s web page. As long as you participate and play in the event, you will earn points. More points can be obtained depending on your finishing position amongst the field of players, and your ability to perform above the field. In August, the top 12 player with the most accumulated points will then be paired to begin Match Play in September. The Top 4 players will receive a first round bye. Congratulations to Mike Nelson for firing an impressive low gross score of 74. Frank Sung managed the challenging Rancho Bernardo Inn course and posted a low net score 71. In team competition, the “Four Man Waltz” format was instituted. For those of you who are new to this format, the scoring goes as follow. Hole 1 – one ball best net score, Hole 2- two best ball net scores, Hole 3 – three best ball net scores, Hole 4 – back to 1 ball best net score….and so on though the rest of the round. Scoring is in relationship to above or under par. See total score below for team results. Wining team was Team 4 – Chuck White, Ray Kieffer, Brian Maguire, and Tim Burns. Their team net score was Eight Under (-8). Each player on this wining team will receive 50 points.

Quest for the 2009 Seacoast Cup - This year will be been full of fun times on the golf course. We have added a new dimension to our club’s monthly event play by having Match Play events beginning September 2009. Twelve players will earn their way to this year’s match play event. Points are earned by finishing well in both individual low gross and low net score postings. Also points are earned in different team and individual events ranging from match play, 4 man team best ball, and 2 man best ball events. Net Skins are also another category that allows players to add points to their monthly points. View Match Play 2008

Remember only those players who have an Official SCGA or USGA golf index qualify for low net play and compete in Seacoast Christian Golf Club Points System. Players who participate in our events who do not have an official golf index / handicap, may be assigned a course handicap and may participate and qualify for team net play points . Leaderboard - On our Leaderboard, Mike Nelson has the top position, followed closely by Dan Anderson second place. The season is early and there are many more events to come to start adding to your points total.
