2005 Encinitas Ranch Golf Club
We had another fun day of golf last Friday. There were a
few new faces amongst our golf group and a few guys who have come out of
the wood work ie....Bill Buchanan, Don McCullum, and
Michael Lo. Welcome to our new comers: Gary Sandvik and
Rob Travis. Gary, who says he hasn’t had a lot of time in recent
years to get out and play, showed us his true talent and smooth golf
swing. He shot a very decent round for someone who doesn’t get out
much…nice work Gary. Rob Travis came out and should his athletic skills
in booming his drives far down the fairways. We hope you all had a
great time and will come out and join us again next month.
We had a tight
finish for 1st place in the individual low gross stoke play.
Both Hunter Smith (our high shool golfer) and one of our newest
members to our group, and Al Akasura shot an 80 (+8). Whenever
we have a tie for 1st place we then have to go to the score
cards and have a card off by comparing scores starting with the most
difficult handicap holes. On hole #4 (handicap 1), Hunter had a bogey,
while Al pulled out a birdie. This gives Al Akasura Low Net
honors…way to go Al.
In the Low Net
stroke play, congratulations again, go to Al Akasura or a low net
score of 63.
The leader board has
seen some new changes. Tom Robinson has now taken the lead in the
points standings with Bob Newby and Curtis Chan chasing on his tails.
In this year’s
playing format, points will be given for both low gross and low net
categories. Points will be earned according how each player finishes in
the field and also how you placed as a team if a team competition was
played. Only ties between first place finishers will be decided by
going to the score cards. Individual net play stroke will be given to
players with an official verifiable golf index. A course handicap may
be assigned to a player who does not have an official handicap by our
club’s handicap chairperson for team net play purposes. If you have any
questions about our golf group or you desire to get an official SCGA
golf membership contact Curtis Chan or Bob Newby.
Next month we will
be playing on Friday, August 12, 2005.
