Encinitas Ranch GC
Friday
June 20, 2008
We had a fun
day of golf last Friday as our monthly golf tour played again at
Encinitas Ranch Golf Club, There were 12 players in the field.
Dan Anderson brought along his son, Nick who finished his
college exams and was ready to swing the clubs with his
dad….welcome to our group Nick.
Congratulations to our low gross winner Dan Anderson,
who posted an 82. Dan was showing his son how to navigate the
course and post a low score. There was a unprecedented 4
way tie for 2nd place low gross between, Bob Newby, John
Jensen, Craig Johnson, and Curtis Chan, who all
posted an 87. Each of them moved up the leader board with
their 2nd place scoring.
Our low
net winner goes to Darryn Prince. Darryn, who we
reported last month, has been seriously working on his game. He
is now consistently posting scores in the 90’s and has become a
golfing fanatic. Darryn reports that his success in lower
scores has been from eliminating the “blow-up” holes.
Congratulations also goes to John Jensen, who posted a
low gross 87. He reported that this was his first time
breaking the 90 barrier…way to go John !!
In team
play competition, the tournament committee paired the
playing field into 2 man teams. The competition would be 2
Man Low Net Best Ball. Each team consisted of a high seed
and low seed player according to June index handicaps. Team 4
(Chan and Jensen) posted the low net team best ball score of 55.
Both John Jensen and Curtis Chan will receive 50 points for
their team win.
On our
Leader Board, Kent Coykendall still maintains the top
position, as several players are making their way up the board.
Kent did not play in this last event, and Curtis Chan has
closed the gap for the lead spot and only trails Kent by 60
points. Frank Sung has jumped up a few spots and is now
in the top 12.
Quest
for the 2008 Seacoast Cup - This year will be full of fun
times on the golf course. We have added a new dimension to our
club’s monthly event play by having Match Play events
beginning September 2008. We will be taking the top 12 spots on
our Seacoast points leader board and set up match play until we
have a final winner to be declared our club champion. So in
order to make it to the top positions, come out, participate,
and play. Points may be earned in the following categories:
both gross and net stroke play, team stroke
play, and also in net skins.
Remember
only those players who have an official SCGA or USGA golf
index qualify for low net play and compete in Seacoast Christian
Golf Club Points System. Players who participate in our events
who do not have an official golf index / handicap, may be
assigned a course handicap and may participate and qualify for
team net play or for net skin play. For information on how to
obtain an official golf index contact Curtis Chan and visit :
