We had a fun day  of golf on Friday.  There were 15 players in the field, all eager to showcase their golf game.  The weather was cool but the sun came out and we were blessed with another beautiful sunny golf day overlooking our Pacific Ocean.   

Welcome to Michael Gibbs, who came out and joined in on the golf for his first time with our group.  The competition for low gross and low net was tight as there were several ties, and the difference from being 1st to 4th place meant whether you made one extra putt or not. 

Congratulations to our low gross winners ( 3 players) who all tied by posting a 81:  Dan Anderson, Kent Coykendall, and Andy Burich. 

Our low net winners who also tied with a low net score of 68 were: Mike Haug and Dan Anderson. 

Quest for the 2008 Seacoast Cup - This year will be full of fun times on the golf course.  We have added a new dimension to our club’s monthly event play by having Match Play events beginning September 2008.  We will be taking the top 12 spots on our Seacoast points leader board and set up match play until we have a final winner to be declared our club champion.  So in order to make it to the top positions, come out, participate, and play.  Points may be earned in the following categories: both gross and net stroke play, team stroke play, and also in net skins.  

Remember only those players who have an official SCGA or USGA golf index qualify for low net play and compete in Seacoast Christian Golf Club Points System.   Players who participate in our events who do not have an official golf index / handicap, may be assigned a course handicap and may participate and qualify for team net play or for net skin play.  For information on how to obtain an official golf index contact Curtis Chan and visit : Membership and SCGA

Points System for 2008

For those who have an SCGA membership through Seacoast Christian Golf Club, we will be implementing a point system to add a competitive edge to our club.  Each event will offer points depending on how you finish amongst the field of players.  Events will be indexed and low net scores will be calculated according to each member’s monthly index.  Players may earn points in the following categories:   low gross and low net, team play, and net skins.   Overall total points will be calculated after each event.  We will keep a running total throughout the year.  The top positioned players will play later in the year in match play format to determine our club champion.  Standings will be posted each month.  If you have any questions contact Bob Newby (bnewby@seacoast-church.org) or Curtis Chan (CurtisChanDDS@aol.com)
