News and Results of our Golf Club

Seacoast Christian

Golf Club an affiliate club of the Southern California Golf Association

We had a wonderful sunny day of golf!  It was quite chilly when we all began but by the 2nd hole, all the fog burned off and the greens got really fast.  Our golf group welcomes Tony Spires who joined us for the first time.  He birdied #17 (166 yd par 3) even though he unintentionally used the wrong club.  He thought he had an 8 iron in his hand but he actually swung and knock it tight to within 5 feet with a 9 iron….way to go Tony.  Then on the next hole he “accidentally” gave his cart partner Bill Grow, an 8 iron, instead of the sand wedge…way to go again Tony…you’re still always welcomed to play with our group…hopefully Bill will ask you to come out again.   Also a welcome to Andy Burich…we haven’t seen you for a while...rumor has it that Andy has been playing on another tour and decided to take his game to a new level and try out our competition. It’s going to be tough to catch Tom Robinson.

The leader board is still ever changing.  Congrats to Curtis Chan for low gross (84), and Frank Sung for low net (71) scores. The leader board is still owned by Tom Robinson who continues to maintain a healthy lead (Tom has owned the lead since March 2004),  but there is a battle for 2nd place as there are only 2 more events to go.  Bob Newby, Frank Sung, and Curtis Chan are very close together and the next couple of events will determine who deserves 2nd place.  Tom’s only advice to good play and his tips on how to get to the top of the leader board  is to “just show up” to these events.

Points System for 2004
For those who have an SCGA membership through Seacoast Christian Golf Club, we will be implementing a point system to add a competitive edge to our club.  Each event will offer points depending on how you finish amongst the field of players.  Final Scoring will be indexed and calculated according to each member’s monthly index.  We will keep a running total throughout the year for those who want to compete and we'll think of prizes for the winners at the end.   Standings will be posted each month.  If you have any questions contact Bob Newby (bnewby@seacoast-church.org) or Curtis Chan (CurtisChanDDS@aol.com).
