Club, Encinitas, CA
We had quite a showdown
last Friday, as our top 8 players squared off in our 2007 Seacoast Match
Play Championship. The matches were tight and tough as every player
strived to out play his opponent. In the end, we have 4 winners who
will continue on to the next round of four.
Congratulations to
John Jensen, who won over Kent Coykendall (2 and 1). John
must have been at the range every day these past 2 weeks. His game has
become more steady and has improved this past year.
Bob Newby out
played Dan Anderson and won his match 2 and 1, and Bob proved
that he can take his game to another level.
Curtis Chan held
off the advances of Andy Burich and won (4 and 2). On hole 1
Curtis took an early lead and kept the pressure on Andy though 16
holes.
Bill Grow won his
match over Tony Spires ( 1 up). Their match was all square thru
17 holes until Tony hooked his drive left into the OB driving range on
the 18th hole. The penalty stroke cost him the match.
So our field is now
slimmed to 4 and the next matches will be:
Jensen (8) vs. Newby
(6)
Chan (2) vs. Grow
(5)
Our next golfing event
will be on Friday, October 19. Due to golf course conditions,
our event planning committee has determined that we will plan to play
Arrowood GC, in Oceanside, for our next round. The greens at
Encinitas Ranch GC and Arrowood GC will be having aeration treatment in
early and mid October.
Arrowood GC, will begin their schedule greens maintenance at the
early in October but will only treat half of their large green leaving
the other half of the green for play. So
plan on coming out to play and have some fun. Players who are not in
the match play championship will be playing individual stroke gross /
net competition.
