Note:
Winners of the Wild Card Matches will advance to the next round,
Quarter Finals, and will be matched up against our clubs
top four players who earned a 1st round bye. Curtis
Chan (1), Kent Coykendall (2), Darryn Prince (3), and Mike Haug
(4).
Each player had their game
face on as they new their whole golf season was at stake. Here
were some pre match comments and notes regarding each match:
Anderson vs. Grow –
Dan Anderson has not been playing at
all over the past 2 weeks. He feels he’s been a bite rusty with
this game and can only hope for the best. Bill Grow knows he
is up against a tough opponent in Dan Anderson, but he trust his
short game will keep him in the match and will ultimately help
him win over Dan.
Jensen vs. Spires
– Jensen admitted that his desire this past week to put some
time at the driving range never came into fruition. He says he
can only hope that the 2008 Golf Extravaganza (where he play 54
holes of golf over two days in a roll) perhaps would provide him
the necessary practice which he needed to help groove his
swing. Tony Spires was cool and collected on the driving range
and felt that as long as he played his game and minimized the
“big score” then he would come out victorious.
Newby vs. Wood
– Bob Newby recently changed to a R7 Taylor Made driver and he
felt that the extra weighted club head would keep his driving
game intact. Larry Wood played a round earlier in the week and
felt that his game was ready to shine today. He realized that
he had a tough opponent in taking on the 2007 Seacoast Champion
Bob Newby, but Larry felt a special confidence in his game and
swing this week.
Maglidt vs. Gibb
- (Match played on Wed August 27, 2008) Scheduled earlier and
approved by tournament chairman. See results below.

Anderson vs. Grow:
Anderson wins 7 and 5. Dan kept his game in check and
didn’t make many mistakes. Bill Grow scored a few double bogies
early on allowing Dan to get an early lead. By hole 10 , Dan
had a 4 up lead and his game remained very stead as he shot an
incredible round 76 for the day. Bill Grow couldn’t match Dan’s
super play and any score short of par meant a winning hole for
Dan. By hole 13, Dan won his match. Congratulations to Dan for
his great play !
